Eleven year-old Harry Carlton’s father died when he was only three. His grandfather stepped into the role and has been a great companion for the boy. Harry loves Grandpa. He especially loves listening to the old man’s thrilling war stories.

However there is a cloak of silence around his father and Harry is determined to discover the truth. But in so doing, he unearths a deeper truth that will test his strength of character

Harry’s War is a book about growing up, about trust and friendship, love and loyalty.

I’ve just finished a book. It will be published in August. I’ll tell you more about it soon. But right now I’m thinking about what my next book (or books) should be. I have quite a few ideas already, but I wonder if anyone out there has any suggestions. Love to hear if you do!

On May 16, 2011, my book Where There’s Smoke was shortlisted in the NSW Premier’s Award for Literature for the Patricia Wrightson Prize. That was a nice buzz for me, as the book is very special to me. Do read it if you get a chance. And maybe even let me know what you thought of it.

This dog has been with me for years. His name is Tim, because he’s quite timid and soft. His brother looks much the same, but his name is Bruiser, because he’s pretty tough. The two of them have been great work dogs for me.
